Blocked drains Clovelly

Elsa, Mia and Steph were sisters. They were all in their late fifties, brought together by circumstances that were beyond control. Now the sisters had each other for comfort.

Today was a happy day for the sisters. They were moving into their new flat. It was a three bedroom flat in a quiet street in Clovelly. They had pooled in their resources to buy the house. There was a small garden at the back and the bus stop was just a minute’s walk away. For the sisters, this was bliss.

The day they moved in, they called in old friends who had come in to help them move their stuff. The men had carried all the heavy stuff and helped the women carry set up home. By the time they were settled in, it was late evening.

Now that things had quietened down more or less, it was time for the ladies to enjoy their shower. They had three bathrooms, one for each bedroom!

Elsa was the first to go in for her bath. Mia followed leaving Steph to go in last. After a few minutes, both Mia and Steph came out, looking worried.

“Elsie, I took a super quick shower because there seems to be a problem with the drain in the shower. It seems to be blocking up. I was a little afraid to take a longer shower in case the water does not go down fully”, Mia explained softly.

“Oh, Mee, my bath seems to have a similar problem. Except I had muck coming back up the drain and the drains smelt really bad! What can we do now?” Elsa asked.

“We need to find a plumber. But I guess we won’t get anyone this evening. May be we can do with Stephy’s bathroom for the day and get a plumber from Clovelly to look at the drain block tomorrow morning”, Mia opined.

At that moment, Stephy came in after her shower.

“What’s the problem?”

The sisters explained what had happened.

“Oh. There’s no need to wait for tomorrow morning. I know a plumber in Clovelly who can help us out right away. If we’re lucky, we’ll only need to wait an hour or less”, she explained as she started flipping through her directory.

Just as she said, a plumber from Clovelly came into their home in exactly 40 minutes. The nice young man was courteous and neat and said he was an expert in clearing blocked draIns and that drainage work was his speciality. He left his shoes outside and came in to take a look at the bathroom drains. Soon, he was hard at work, fishing out gunk and hair that seemed to have blocked the drain probably through thte shower waste.

It took the plumber about half an hour to finish with both the bathrooms. He took particular care to clear away all the debris. Before he left, he even backed up his work with a guarantee and assured the old ladies that they can sleep without worry because the block had well and truly gone away!
